Remember, it's not only the accused that's affected and if remanded pending trial they will rely upon those on the outside to obtain advice they cannot fet inside. Perhaps you are a friend or relative of someone who is being or has been affected by injustice and don't know how best to help them or even cope yourself. My long term aim of this site is to provide advice and assistance to all the victims of the legal system when it goes wrong. Welcome, I wish you all the best in recovering from the nightmare I know only too well that results and hope I can be of some help.
Regards
Billy Middleton

I suppose I should be the first to introduce myself, however I think I've done that enough on the main site. So I simply say Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Hi scotkaz,
I very much appreciate your message and have noted how many cases you have highlighted in the forum and hope that by doing so there can be benefit for them, then all the effort will be worthwhile.
Clearly I am very sensitive about my own case as it is still very raw and the loss so incredible which is why with the exception of highlighting how injustice can and does happen I won't be discussing it here. I do however feel that my own experience qualifies me adequately to help and support others which is what this site is about. It's not about me, not about bitterness but the lack of support available to those who deserve and need it most at a time they are least able to help themselves find it. I am currently working on making any available assistance easy to find and hope that the site becomes promenent enough to do so.
Participation by people such as yourself is an important part of that process, no one ever believes this sort of thing happens, it sounds so cliche but its what you read about, not what really happens. I think an important part of allowing people to regain their innocense, dignity and self respect is showing the public how easily and frequently injustice occurs. Only then will the stigma attached to any allegation be reduced but it will never entirely be gone.
Many thanks

Hi,
I've read right through your site, and I'd like to congratulate you on such an awesome effort. I'm sure many people will benefit both from the information you provide, and the encouragement you offer for those caught up in the nightmare of wrongful accusation and conviction.
I've been working in this area for six years, and it's terrifying just how many people are affected - there simply isn't enough help for them (or acknowledgement of their plight, which is another story altogether.)
I'll be stopping by regularly to visit the site, and wish you the very best of success. It takes a very strong person to come through an experience as awful as yours, and then use it to help others - that's a real inspiration for others.
Like Scotkaz, any questions, just say the word.

Thanks Sandra and welcome,
I believe I've already made forum members aware in another thread about your 5 star rated book 'No smoke...'. What I would like others to recognise by your being here is the experience you have in this area and how familiar you are with what can and does go on. Hence your book (A link to it on amazon is top right if anyone's interested) and the knowledge you have contained within it. I'm glad to say that I'm sure other members will hear more from you in future.

Hi
I'm Billy's little sister. I've not joined the forum before as had wanted to see what support was around without family ties and have been very impressed so far. Since the topic has moved onto family members and the effect on them I thought I'd join in

I am glad to have found this forum if for no other reason than this is a place where there are people who can actually believe that events and information can be twisted to give the appearance of guilt. I haven't been charged with anything yet, but there is someone in my life who has already devoted two years of his life to getting me arrested on various charges and deported (I am American). All it takes is for one authority to take him seriously and I could end up on the 'wrongly accused treadmill. But, even without formal charges, I know a bit about what it is like to live and deal with the stigma and stress and cost of being falsely accused.
