I would like to take a moment to address this particular case and inform the forum members of what I have done in an effort to support these particular people.
Clearly there are now serious health implications as a result of what has occurred so far which can only ever become worse the longer it is permitted to continue. I have added my support in terms of the petition and written to the leaders of all Scottish parties expressing my disapproval.
I will consult on the matter but my intentions are that once I have received acknowledgment of their receipt, I will publish the letter on site.
Regards

I have signed the petition too and am glad that you have highlighted this case again as I had always meant to sign it and never did till reminded about it. Please don't put it off as I did-the chances are you'll forget. Is there any way this petition can be on your main site rather than just the forum to attract more signatures?
Also do you have any means of telling how many have signed via your site?
Well done Billy-glad to see your already helping others.

A very good suggestion, I this case is particularly urgent due to the timing of the next trial date. Also I feel that people should e-mail their msp's directly to ensure the matter cannot be ingored. It would also substanciate issues I have raised in my letter if members not only signed the petition as you both have. I feel that my letter is written in such a way that it couldn't be, certainly not now that my sending it is public knowledge through the site. I will also be sending them recorded delivery.
I will place a link to the petition on the main page immediately and publish a list of MSP leaders on the forum tomorrow.
Regards and thanks.

I have received acknowledgment by Kenny MacAskill's PA of receipt of the e-mailed copy sent last night. For your information, emails regarding this matter should be sent to mailto:cabinetsecretaryforjustice@scotland.gsi.gov.uk rather than the address posted above.

I have received a letter today from Tavish Scott MSP, acknowledging receipt of the e-mail sent on Thursday evening. Although he states that there is a parliamentary convention that MSP's do not make representations on behalf of those who are out with hes/her constituency, he also said, "Thank you for your detailed letter attached to your email to me of yesterday's date. You raise a range of important issues and I will give these some thought and consider the appropriate way of tackling them."

Hi Billy
Just to let you know that the addition of music to your site is a great idea especially with the choice of tunes being so poignant although down here they are a little muffled!!!
Been and put my signature on the Howes petition this evening.
Welcome aboard the forum bigsis.

We'll just have to wait and see I guess. The problem is that the normal line is that ministers don't want to get involved with courts, I know that in my letter I referred to a specific memorandum which expressly states their abilities to do so but how often does it ever happen? Law is one thing, politics another, I fear never the twain shall meet to any productive level but that won't stop me at least trying. And when they've finished chewing over that I've got a few matters of my own to land on their desks too.

Further to my previous posts on this issue I can now confirm that I did receive 2 more replies to my letters to Scottish Parliament yesterday and one the day before. Somewhat disappointingly there merely acknowledge their receipt and don't further things in any significant way but I do feel that the fact that they were sent recorded delivery perhaps is the difference between receiving a reply and others who have written or e-mail and not had at least the same response.
Therefore in my opinion the reply received from Tavish Scott of the Liberal Democrats is the only one who at least accepted the serious matters raised and stipulated that he would give consideration on how best to address them.
